The Honorable Dr. Julia Clark-Johnson is the daughter of Lawrence and Jeanette Saunders. She was born in Fort Leonard Wood Hospital in Waynesville, Missouri. However, she has a Irish grandmother who was born and raised in Tennessee. She is the proud daughter of two active military parents. One week after her birth, her family deployed to Stuttgart, Germany. Her earlier years were spent abroad learning foreign customs.

Several years after her family returned to the United States, her dad became one of two first people of color firefighters enlisted on the Bomb and Arson Specialist team in St. Louis, Missouri. Her mom was employed with the Division of Social Services in St. Louis as well. At this time, Julia was introduced to politics. She was a canvasser delivering flyers for William Bill Clay, Sr. prior to his long-term elected as United States Congressman in Washington D.C. She assisted many other Missouri public servants as well to successfully win office terms. Dr. Julia Clark-Johnson served two terms as Student Government Vice-President and two terms as Student Government President at the University.

While serving as a firefighter, her father and seven other colleagues implemented the policy for Firefighters Institute for Racial Equality (F.I.R.E.). This policy is currently used as an administrative guideline for firefighters' equality throughout the country. Unfortunately, her dad died in the line of duty of saving lives.  The St. Louis City firefighters and activist pay tribute to her dad for his historical contributions for equality, desegregation and fair, promotional firefighter opportunities in lieu of the policy throughout the country.

Dr. Julia Clark-Johnson has successfully implemented polices and city ordinances helping to improve communities in St. Louis County. She is a traditional educator, having over twenty-years experience teaching at Normandy School District in St. Louis County. She is also a trained professional driver who is educated in the Department of Transportation policies, Homeland Security and passport policies and regulations. She has driven and traveled the entire country and other parts of the world.

As a member of the Board of Trustee in St. Louis County, Dr. Clark Johnson balanced city budgets. Whenever necessary, she employed some assistance from Senator Claire McCaskill, state auditor at that time. As a public servant, she served as public relations, human resources, public works, building, health, parks & recreation and police commissioners. She is in constant contact with Congressman William "Lacy" Clay Jr., Senator Claire McCaskill, former Senator Rita Days, former Senator and Speaker of the House, Maida Coleman, Representative Ester Haywood and many more public officials.

Dr. Julia Clark-Johnson has a B.A. in Business Administration at Fontbonne University. Her M.A. is in Human Resources Management at Webster University. She pursued her Doctorate of Education at Walden University.

Fun facts: She has two children who are ivy league university graduates. Her main hobby is learning. She enjoys music and dancing. Dr. Julia Clark-Johnson is also second cousin to Florence Ballad an original member of the 1960's group, The Supremes.
